As India inches forward in the electric mobility area, all related institutions and making it sure that once implemented, there are no loopholes. One of the busiest routes in Maharashtra, Mumbai- Pune and Mumbai- Nashik will soon have e-buses. However, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) which is the parent organization would start plying e-buses from Mumbai to the city and Nashik after proper studies and tests, considering the ghat sections along the two routes.

As of now, a tender for 200 e-buses has been floated and it is learnt that a private party will run them on lease. The routes will be decided after the tender is awarded. All buses will be air-conditioned. However, there are a few technical issues that need to be considered befor plying e-buses in the ghat sections. The route has ghat sections that cannot be overlooked. It will only be after a series of studies and some test runs before a final go ahead on the use of e buses. The charging stations for the buses would be provided at the arrival and the departure points. Charging points will also be available at some other points along the routes. Inspection and studies have started to set up the charging points.
